Dynamics of prices for concentrated feed

In expectation of a new harvest of soybean and sunflower and low current stockpiles of these oil crops, the pace of trade in concentrated feeds continues to reduce. The prices for sunflower and soybean cake and meal continue to increase under those circumstances. Price reduction will occur in September, when processing enterprises get sunflower seeds and beans from the new harvest.
In August this year, compared to the previous month, prices for sunflower meal increased by 11.4% (250 UAH/ton) to 2,450 UAH/tonne, and sunflower cake added in price 8.5% (200 UAH/t) and worth 2,250 UAH/t. Soybean meal was available at the market only at the beginning of the month, so to determine the dynamics of price growth is inappropriate. As of August 2, the price for this kind of feed was 5,300 UAH/t. Soybean cake undergone the most significant changes in price. It went up by 12.7% (575 UAH/ton) to 5,100 UAH/t.

At the end of the month, the concentrated feed market has become more complicated. Cake and meal become deficit. Soybean meal is not commercially available, and stocks of sunflower cake are almost exhausted.
During the period from August 16 to August 29 soybean cake price sharply went up. On August 16, it was worth 4,900 UAH/t, and 2 weeks later, on August 29, this kind of feed went up by 12.3% (600 UAH/t) up to 5,500 UAH/t. Prices for sunflower meal and cake has not changed – 2,500 UAH/t and 2,550 UAH/t, respectively. Soybean meal was not on sale.
New crop of soybean becomes available for processing, so we can expect that price for these types of feed will drop off.
