Major Irish supermarkets - pig meat in beef burgers

16.01.2013

Major supermarkets in Ireland were found to be selling beef burgers that contain pig meat as well as horse meat.

According to the Food Safety Authority, 85% of products tested positive for pig DNA, while out of the 27 burgers tested, 10 of them contained horse meat.

Major supermarkets
Tesco, Dunnes, Lidl, Aldi and Iceland are the supermarkets where the beef burgers were for sale — the supermarkets have stated they will remove all products, said a report by the Irish examiner.

Liffey Meats, Silvercrest Foods (Ireland) and Dalepak Hambleton (UK) are the three processing plants where the beef burgers with horse DNA were made.
