Commercial piglets have gone down in price in Europe

02.04.2015

According to the European Commission report as at March 23, prices of commercial piglets have dropped in commonwealth countries. So on the thirteenth week one piglet cost 67 eurocents less than the week earlier — 44.49 euro per head.

However, negative changes touched not all European countries. For example in Croatia, commercial piglets went up in price by one euro per head, while in Slovakia — almost by 10 euro. Except named countries, the growing price in this market segment took place in Luxembourg (+2.76%), Hungary (+12%), Poland (+3%) and Finland (+16%).

Taking into account the seasonal variations at commercial piglets, typical for European market, the reduction of average prices had the episodic character. The recovery of growing dynamics can be expected, as the main annual peaks that traditionally fall on April-May is in advance.
