During the year the pig livestock in Ukraine decreased on 3,5%

By January 1, 2016 the pigs’ number in Ukraine decreased on 3,5% and has averaged out at 7,09 mln heads. State Statistics Service of Ukraine has published this information.
During the year the pig heard in Ukraine decreased on 358 thousand heads. Substantial reduction in number of these animals (-6,6%) in backyard farms is the reason. At the beginning of the last year private owners had 3,62 mln pigs, 2016 begins with the lowest historical rate — 3,38 mln heads.
Industrial sector is more stress-resistance, as the number of pigs in commercial farms has decreased only by 0,5% and put together 3,61 mln heads. As a result of these changes, the share of «commercial pigs» grows in total amount and reserves for itself a great part of livestock, almost 52%.
