Live pigs market: pressure increases

During the third week of the year, the range of farm-gate prices on slaughter pigs of the I-st category vary within 27.5 UAH/kg — 29 UAH/kg, live weight basis. At the end of the third decade of January farm-gate prices has notably decreased.

So, the lower limit of price range slides to 26.5 UAH/kg. Some producers sound the highest price at last week level. But only those who cater directly on the market can haggle over such heavy prices. However the majority’s price gravitates toward the average mark in 27.5 UAH/kg for kilo of pork live weight basis. Market operators associate the quotations’ weakening with pressure increase on the part of processors. They note small demand and risk of import raw material rush.
