Live pigs market: the tension strengthens

Last week was rather lucky for pig producers. Many of them have held the farm gate prices at level planned. As a result, first category pigs were sold by 29.7 UAH/kg. It is 2.7% more expensive the week earlier.
For information, the LWE price hasn’t only regained its face completely but has back to the point achieved at the end of December 2015. However processors do not see clear conditions for price growth on commercial pigs. It has had the impact on Friday auction: according to producers, negotiations were tense and it was quite a trouble to hold the price at level achieved. Some of producers have had to fall in by cutting down the price of kilo pork LWE by 0.2-0.5 UAH/kg. Producers from Western part of the country feel the peak pressure on the part of buyers. This is because of population that keeps a fast more, hence — reduces pork consumption. Despite this, at the end of March the range of farm gate prices stops with the level of previous week — 29-30 UAH/kg.
