Live pigs market: price’s swings

The farm gate prices decreases at the beginning of April. During the week 14, the average price on live pigs has come down by 1.4% to 29.2 UAH/kg. At the start of April’s second decade pig producers plan to hold the quotations at the level achieved.
This week the range of farm gate price on pigs LWE has narrowed, as the upper threshold has slide to 29.5 UAH/kg. It’s worth mentioning that auction finished with contravercial results for pig breeders: some of them had to cut down prices by half a hryvnia, others managed to gain a shade more. In particular some pig producers from Eastern regions of the country are expecting the uprise before Easter.
Meanwhile, last week processors have mentioned the weak sale: one has decreased pork purchase volumes, some of them «produce to stock», and others decided to down tools. Despite this, some market players expect the activization of the trade and, therefore prices, from the third week of April.
