African Swine Fever Threatens Mariupol

ASF threatens Mariupol. The disease might cover the territory of half Luhansk region and a part of Donetsk region.
ASF is now again at its edge in Southern Federal District of Russia, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The disease is not dangerous for humans, but there is no remedy for pigs. If ASF enters a farm, all the pigs 150km. around it must be killed and burnt and new herd can be brought to the buildings of such farm not earlier that in a year. The disease is spread rapidly, can be transmitted from the infected territory even at clothes and shoes. So, it is forbidden to bring in Ukraine any pig products from the listed countries. Though total control over the import of such products into the country is impossible. Therefore Ukrainian administration calls for awareness of citizens, who have relatives in the neighbour countries living relatives: the penetration of the virus to the territory of Ukraine will cause a huge blow to the economy, as the main income of many people is connected with the breeding of pigs.
