Live pigs price dynamics

After the continuous growth of the pig prices have since the beginning of the year, they have begun to decrease in September. The end of holiday season and high prices for finished products resulted in lower demand for meat products. The growth of import influenced the price situation; as imported meat is quite cheaper than that produced in Ukraine. Thus meat processing companies are able to buy cheap imported meat instead of native, which is more expensive. But the meat which is imported from Brazil or Poland is of poorer quality. As a consequence the price and the demand for Ukrainian pigs have decreased.
According to the date of the analytic department of the website Pigua.info the average price for pigs of bacon type is UAH18.3 per kilo; which is 3.2% cheaper (UAH 0.60 per kilo) than it has been the previous month. The price for meat type pigs has decreased by 2 %( UAH0.45 per kilo) and is UAH 20.5 per kilo. The price for meat type pigs in the enterprises which are members of Association of Pig Producers of Ukrainian has decreased by 3.4 %( UAH0.70 per kilo) and is UAH20.9 per kilo

Beginning from the 13th of September and up till the 27th of September the price for bacon type pigs has decreased by 2.5% (UAH0.45 per kilo) and is UAH18.1 per kilo. The price for meat type pigs has decreased by 3.8% (UAH0.8 per kilo) and is 20.2 per kilo. The price for meat type pigs from the enterprises which are the members of Association of Pig Producers of Ukrainian has decreased most of all. The price has decreased by 5.7% (UAH1.2 per kilo) and is UAH20.3 per kilo.
