Ukrainian animal breeders insure pigs against African swine fever

Ukrainian animal breeders which enterprises are situated on the border with Russia o want to insure pigs against African swine fever. The epidemic has been lasting for more than 1 month in Russia. One of the focuses of infection is located in Kursk region which is less than 100 km from Sumy region.
The manager of the department of insurance of property risks of PZU Ukraine says “During several last months we received about 50 requests for insurance from agricultural enterprises of Ukraine. This is not usual for animal farms”.
The outbreaks of ASF were registered in Voronezh, Kursk and Rostov regions.
