Live pigs market: up-swing

25.02.2015

At the end of February, the live pigs market felt the up-swing. Whereas the average price of first category pigs has hardly reached 22 UAH/kg on the 7th week, though on the last week of the month the kilo of meaty live weight pork raised beyond the mark of 26 UAH/kg. The live pigs of second category have also gone up; it is bought by 23-26.5 UAH/kg.

Processers are disposed a bit pessimistic as because the price increases on live pigs, so the small demand essentially shorten the turnover and purchase. The Lent that started on Monday is a supplementary pressure on the sale activity. Though, processors and retailers don’t feel this yet. Hereafter this factor will be essential.

Processors, who cater to the Crimea find themselves more confident, they hold the price increase and have relatively stable sales volume.

Taking into account the humor of market players, variations of purchasing price within 25-28.2 UAH/kg is not the extreme mark. That’s why, further rising cost is expecting the next week.
