Less and Less Cattle, But More and More Pigs

According to the report of State Committee of Statistics there is a tendency of decreasing number of cattle in agriculture of Ukraine. During 2009 the total cattle herd size decresed by 4.6%-- to 4.9 mln. heads, including cows—by 4.2% to 2,74 mln. heads.
Expert conclude this is the main reason of constant milk and dairy products prices rising. And this is the permanent situation in Ukraine for the last 10 years.
At the same time the total heard size of pigs is increasing: for February,1, 2010 it reached 7,57 mln. heads, which is 16,4% more, than a year ago.
