New Meat Type of Large White Created in Poltava

The work at creating a new meat type of pig, conducted by Poltava institute of pig industry and 2 agricultural firms, lasted for 15 years. Recently two new types of Large White pig breed, that is so popular in Ukraine, were probated in the Ministry of agriculture of Ukraine. They were called after the place of breeding—“Bahachanskyi” and “Bahmutskyi”. New types have bigger meat yield: 59%, less pig salve, bigger litter size.
Poltava Institute of Pig Industry created also new swine breeds: Red with White Belt (2006), Ukrainian meat-type ND Poltava breed.
