Agrarian Confederation of Ukraine offers to increase import duties on meat

The prices for pigs in Ukraine in 2011 were a little bit higher than in 2010. Cheap import is the main factor that influences price formation. Ukraine is protected from the cheap import only by 10%. The import of pork increased by 41% , by products by 63% bacon by 23% during 2008-2010.
Agrarian Confederation of Ukraine offers to increase import duties on some kinds of meat in order to protect domestic market more efficiently. It offers to increase the import duty on pork imported from Brazil, Poland and Germany up to 20 % . The import duties on pigs liver and pigs by products, imported from Germany, Denmark, Netherlands and Poland are suggested to be increased up to 25% .
